carrot

acryl on canvas - 150x100cm (59x39in)
An Icelandic horse is pulled on a rope stretched above a Bruegelian Alpine mountain range by a character from a Goya painting - a flagellant with a pointed hat. A carrot on a rope has been added to the pointed hat. The horse, man and carrot form a perpetuum mobile.
In addition to walking, trotting and galloping, some Icelandic horses can also tölt, where one leg of the horse is always on the ground. Once a horse leaves Iceland, it is not allowed to return.
Inspiration:
Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (Goya): Sure Folly (1816 - horse on
tightrope) and Procession of Flagellants (1812-1819 - man with pointed hat).
Pieter Bruegel the Elder: Conversion of Saint Paul (1567 - sky and Alps).
